Sunny
He asked me to lay down on the table, specifically on my right side, and started to massage my left hip by rubbing his elbow onto it in circular motions. Every time he applied more pressure, I told myself that it would be over soon and to just deal with it. Although I was silent, my face inevitably showed my discomfort.
He interrupted the conversation in my head and said, “Just because you have a high tolerance to pain doesn’t mean you should tolerate it. Please tell me when it hurts.”
I felt that to my core. I should communicate when something hurts or doesn’t feel good — in our sessions and my everyday life. Shout-out to my physical therapist, Sunny! His words were simple — and real.
