bus stops
Summer 2024
I came
across
not one,
not two,
not three,
but FOUR
bus stops
in The Bronx
with posters
promoting
Chicago’s
ranking as
“Voted best
big city in
the U.S.A.”
Why is Chicago
being advertised
in The Bronx?
Why am I
overhearing
the guys next
to me in this
restaurant
plan their
bros trip
to Chicago?
Why am I
sitting on a
bench in Mom’s
neighborhood
only to see the
moving truck
I used nearly
three years
ago park right
in front of me?
Why am I
applying to
jobs in both
New York and
Chicago and
only landing
interviews for
roles in Chicago?
It reminds me
of when I was
home for the
holidays last
year, and even
though I applied
to jobs in both
cities, I had a
virtual interview
for a job in Chicago
and was offered
the role at the
end of the call.
The signs
are so clear
that I’m
meant to
return to
Chicago
after I live
my single
hot girl
summer
here in
New York.
I don’t know
when I’ll get
my new job
offer, but I
have faith in
divine timing.
I don’t need
to worry about
anything.
The
universe
is on
my side.
